Extroverted Writers? Lowcountry Womens Fiction Author

By Debra Nelson

All personality types can be good writers, whether a person is extroverted or introverted, adventurous or reserved, it doesn t make any difference. The saying that writers are reserved geeks is a myth. There are numerous writing genres and this article gives an overview of writing genres as Lowcountry womens fiction author. There are writers who enjoy outdoor writing over the others and have taken it as a career, writers like Catherine Marshall and Ben Groundwater.

Usually, these writers take trips to places offering recreational activities like camping, kayaking, biking, scuba diving, hiking, hunting, and etcetera. While others use these experiences to write books like The Science and Spirit of the Ocean by Jonathan White, the majority write articles to sell to travel magazines, websites, newspapers, and outdoor trade magazines.

These articles may cover topics involving what makes a particular holiday destination fun, how to get there, how much it will cost and the type of equipment available. Some are used to advertise an area, they give detailed descriptions of the activities on the site. Alternatively, the experience may be used to write reviews about a recreational area.

You cannot rewrite a novel 6 times and sell it 6 times because you ll be telling the same story using different words. People won t buy it. But you can go on one trip and write more than 6 articles about that trip using different pictures you took there and sell it to multiple buyers at the same time. That is how an outdoor writer maximizes his/her profits, by making sure that he/she sells the rewritten versions of one article to several buyers.

A freelance writer sitting at home and writing research articles rarely makes financial losses in this career because they don t spend that much money to write the articles. So if no one buys the articles, they will have only lost the time they took to write them. On the other hand, travel writers spend a vast amount of money to travel to holiday destinations and when they get there they want to have a full experience of the area, so they pay for all activities, fine dining and wining. If no one buys their articles, the money they spent there won t be recovered.

These writers don t really have time to enjoy their stay at a beach or a restaurant, this type of traveling changes from being for leisure to being a work travel. Taking notes, interviewing local people and taking pictures is what travel writers spend their time doing on these tours. Unlike people who travel for fun and to relax, outdoor writers have to be very observant while touring, they must look for things that make the places to tick, after all, they want their articles to sell.

While others take pleasure in exploring the adventurous world and taking recreational activities to write about them. Others just want to sit in their gardens and observe how the birds interact with each other and write about that.

One way of having fun while making money is to be a travel writer. You simply go out and see the world, tell people things you saw and get paid for it.
